Getting started….
Since retirement almost two years ago I have been roaming around Wyoming and Montana and up into Alberta a few weeks at a time here and there. As I related stories from my road trips to people back home I was surprised about how few from the Midwest have actually seen the western states aside from a ski lift in Colorado or, if they were really adventurous, wildlife while staying at Yellowstone National Park. There is just so much more out there for people to know about and experience. I really enjoy a road trip with endless two lane blacktop; never know what I am going to see around the next corner or behind that mountain out there on the horizon. Even Midwest states like Iowa, Nebraska and Wisconsin, have a beauty you can only experience in person. . The idea behind this blog is to share some of our experiences.
For instance while driving through South Dakota I stumbled across this field of amazing sculptures created by a man who made his living herding sheep. His imagination was way out there and just a little disturbing, but his art was beautiful.
This year we will start our camping season by visiting a couple of state parks in Illinois or Missouri. Then we probably will visit central Pennsylvania late spring before hitting the road to destinations west. Along the way Sherrie and I will keep you posted on where we are and what we have seen.
Hope you follow us and drop us a note from time to time.
