Leadville, CO / Fall Aspen

Took another drive out to Leadville, CO this fall. My second stop there this year. The primary reason for visiting again was to photograph the Aspens in their fall colors.  Defying my usual luck, I arrived just as the trees turned gold.  Taking a recommendation from “Campendium”, (https://www.campendium.com/county-road-48) I parked the rig about five or six miles out of town along County Road 48 on National Forest land.  This was a great spot that is used a lot in summer but I was mostly alone for the five days I was there.  Strictly dry camping but was close enough to the public water tap in town that I had everything I needed. Every day I was up before sunrise and out on the gravel roads.  My last morning in the Pike and San Isabel Forest it was 15 degrees as I set up my camera along side Twin Lakes. Just a little chilly for this “flat lander”.

These photos are a few of my photos from the trip.

Twin Lakes, CO
It was cold, I had on every layer available. Lassie didn’t seem to mind the cold.

I think I need to go back next year, several people told me I should explore the area around Telluride.
